THERAPIES THAT OFFER REAL HELP
Why Therapy & does it work?
Therapy is a term utilized to describe a variety of approaches to address a specific issue or a broader range of issues and more complex problems
In order to assist with issues and to develop treatment recommendations, we will need information regarding your life , past history, including what causes you stress and what symptoms you have recently experienced. This involves a willingness to change behavior and a commitment to find a resolution. Our practitioners will listen and determine the therapeutic approach or combination of approaches that will work best.
“The single most important issues for traumatized people is to find a sense of safety in their own bodies”
– Bessel Van Der Kolk

Our Areas of Expertise
1. ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS
Children are learning every single day. Their moods and behavior change as they grow. Many of these changes are expected and well documented. In other words, “growing pains” that match up with a child’s age are anticipated and not a cause for any concern.
Growth and well-being are challenged by several factors.
Things such as:
- Trust & Mistrust
- Independence
- The Balance Between Acting on their Own and Misbehavior
- School Age Depression & Anxiety
- Self-Identification & Pushing Boundaries
- Launching
If you feel something is not quite right with regards to these developmental stages, please contact us for more information.
2. EATING DISORDERS
Some people may see eating disorders as phases, fads or lifestyle choices, but they’re actually a serious issue. They affect people physically, psychologically and socially and can have life-threatening consequences. Eating disorders are a range of conditions expressed through abnormal or disturbed eating habits. These generally stem from an obsession with food, body weight or body shape and often result in serious health consequences. In some cases, eating disorders even result in death. Individuals with eating disorders can have a variety of symptoms.
What makes one person develop an eating disorder and another doesn’t? There are so many factors that determine whether an eating disorder will crop up or not.
Things such as:
- Personality Traits
- Genetics
- Peer Pressure
- Cultural Pressure
- Brain Structure and Biology
Our office can help you deal with and overcome eating disorders from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and more. It all begins with a call.
3. MOOD AND ANXIETY DISORDERS
Mood disorders are not always easy to detect. The major signs are inconsistency with circumstances and your ability to function. For example, a strong bout of depression or sadness when there isn’t anything to be sad about.
4. TRAUMA AND ABUSE
First, there are major differences between abuse and trauma. Abuse is an intentional act to cause or threaten harm to another person with no regard to their feelings or wellbeing.
Verbal, physical, sexual, and real violence are the kinds of abuse that we’re talking about.
Although there are many levels of abuse, the severity determines whether a victim can overcome it on their own or will need help.
Trauma is the lasting emotional response that can result from living through a distressing event. This can be a reaction to abuse, life threatening events, or bullying etc. Victims of trauma will display a variety of responses from their traumatic experience. They have a lot of healing to do. PTSD and ASD are real and these cases need to be handled by a caring team of professionals. Please contact us.
5. SELF-ESTEEM AND IDENTITY ISSUES
Self-Esteem and Identity go hand in hand with each other and begins very early in life. Even as a baby, you are picking up on the reactions of others when you cry, you laugh, every little thing you do. If the reactions are prompt attention, encouragement, and loving in nature, you begin to see yourself as valuable. If the reactions were far less than encouraging, the level of self-esteem would be different.
6. SPIRITUAL AND FAITH ISSUES
Many people today have a spiritual or faith base that creates a path that guides their everyday life. Those raised in a environment that fostered their faith or spiritual beliefs will occasionally run into major challenges that strike a blow to their faith. Those blows to one’s faith can affect everyone differently, but the signs of anxiety, doubt, and depressive behavior can be challenging. Questioning one’s faith can lead to a feeling of uncertainty, fear, and stress.
7. PARENTING
OK, we all wish a new baby would come with a handbook. That book would be ridiculously large, filled with volumes of information from child-rearing to the rebellious teen years, and the quiet that comes when they leave to find their own life in the world. In a nutshell, parenting is challenging, rewarding, and mind-numbing.
